Elephant or Donkey?
Not to start a political debate or anything (just gearing up for what looks like is going to be a very long "election season"), but I can't resist a quiz. Really, I thought I'd be a little more middle of the road than this, but honestly, the only thing on the Democrat questionnaire that I could get behind was shopping at Whole Foods or Trader Joes (neither of which exists here in the Heartland, by the way...shame that)! You Are 4% Democrat |
If you have anything in common with the Democrat party, it's by sheer chance. You're a staunch conservative, and nothing is going to change that! |
And contrary to what the donkey says, I don't appear to be quite as "staunch" as I sometimes think I am...
You Are 68% Republican |
You have a good deal of elephant running through your blood, and you're proud to be conservative. You don't fit every Republican stereotype, but you definitely belong in the Republican party. |
Updtate: How fitting that God Issues Today would say the following:
"It's easy to wonder who you are in a culture which defines us by what we do and those we do it with. If I tell you that I'm a Republican, you automatically assume that I embrace a particular political agenda. If I say that I'm a Democrat, you assume another agenda. If I'm a Libertarian, you're probably just confused. "Baptist preacher" certainly conjures up a particular pulpit-pounding image. If I drive up in my friend's 1965 Mustang convertible (I wish!) you see me very differently than if I show up in my neighbor's pickup.
Fortunately, God's impression of us is not dependent on our job title or mailing address."
Or whether we are a Democrat or Republican. We should all give thanks for that.

Not to start a political debate or anything... Yeah right hehe. :P
Sigh. So I went to take the quizzes cause I thought they'd be cute and fun...but I couldn't get past how stereotyped they were - and even the Republican one had little taglines after some of the initial things they stated that I couldn't in good conscience check them (e.g. "You try to go to church every Sunday" Ok, so far so good, "God's expecting you there." Um...that's not why I go and it shows a ridiculous level of ignorance on behalf of the quizmaker. Yes, yes, quiz! Fun! Not serious! Must be my mood today - will try again another day (though I did hit 4% on democrat too...cause I have a graduate degree. Why is education a democratic trait? Cause Republicans are idiots? Grr. Sorry! I know, taking this way too seriously!)
Beth, I agree! The questions were ridiculous, so I answered the "best" I could (ignoring some of the taglines).
Gwynne, I will try again and just ignore the tags. :) Cause the pictures are cute, mostly. And I like the idea of being told I have "elephant running through [my] blood"....can I explain that when I go clothes shopping? I'm very skinny for an elephant!
Not sure where in the Heartland you reside, but you should look around for a Wild Oats Market.
emawkc, thanks for stopping by and you're right...I love Wild Oats! But they're not quite as "over the top" as Whole Foods or Trader Joes.
As I'd suspected, I resulted in 48% Dem, 4% Repub.
Too bad there wasn't a test for the Rhinoceros Party. That's the score I'd want to see.
Heh. So you're a (Groucho)Marxist-(John)Lennonist then? Good to know. ;-)
I'm curious...which Republican platform did you agree to?
This one, Gwynne.
"You don't mind suburban soccer moms, in fact you kind of like them."
The only one.
Very funny :-)
That's almost creepy. ;-)
Almost.
WHOA!!! Gwynne,
Please, none of that Creepola stuff for me. My choice of that one form the entire Republican milieu has to do more with the ridicule that is unfairly put on the soccer moms than the "kind of like them" part. I'll leave the "like them" part to some of the Republican congressman who, piecemeal, seem to be unwinding into spectacular faux-pas of relational mis-behaviour.
I'll just watch and shake my head and wonder where people's heads were at 2 years and 6 years ago.
I know, I know. That was just an easy jab. I apologize. :-)
And lest the Democrats get off scot free in the "relational mis-behaviour" category, let's not forget the affairs of our last Democratic president.
Oh, now see? Look what you've made me do. I wasn't going to go there. Really. ;-)
Gwynne,
I'm not capable of stating politely the differences between our last two presidents' x-rated actions except to state, and the facts will bear me correctly, that where the previous 2-termer's actions affected one person, the current 2-termer affected us all.
When it comes to doing the nasty thing in life, I'll almost always side with the singular action as opposed to the multiple. I thought Life (Yes, the Big "L") is always more important.
And, for the record, I don't think Dubya's dad did such a bad job, probably because he was quite capable of thinking clearly by himself.
12% Democrat
52% Republican
I agree with Beth's comments...maybe I should become a Bethican. Bethocrat. :-)
Oooh...a whole new party - Bethocrats :) I could get behind that.
The math doesn't add up. I was 0% Democrat but only 48% Republican.
This election season? I'm wearing a rain poncho so I don't get any on me.
Foo, I was wondering about the math also. Where is the other 52% of you?
Jami and Beth, there's still time to get your party pulled together for the 2008 election. ;-)
I'll bet it would be a good one!
