I Am My Father's Daughter
Like father, like daughter...when faced with needing/wanting to learn a new skill or hobby, the first order of business is to get some books...these arrived today in the oh-so-familiar brown box from Amazon:

I resemble that problem myself. If you can't learn it from a book, it's not worth learning :)
I don't see any books about self-flotation or marathon swimming. Will you be lashing yourself to the main sail or something for the duration of any trips?
