Looking Pretty

So I decided to "have my nails done" if I am going to actually wear the beautiful new ring that my husband gave me for my birthday. I'm not a very high maintenance girl ("girl" being a very loose term...just roll with me, please) and my nails are usually the least of my worries. Hair is another...as you can see from the pictures, my solution to hair problems is usually a hat, and/or a ponytail. Works for me. To make a long boring story short, I am now officially disabled. I told the gal they needed to be "short." They may be short by manicurist standards, but they are definitely getting in my way even as I type this short post. I can't zip my pants. I can't open my Diet Coke. I can't put on my charm bracelet without help. And I can't run my 10-key. All I can do now is work as a hand model. So this is the price of looking pretty. That and the $30 it cost to pay off the person who did this to me. Hrmph.

Acrylics, silk, or gel?

I loved my gel nails and miss them. You'll get used to them, I assure you.

Hmmm, good question. "Fake" is all I know. Probably whatever is cheapest...they glued on some tips and then they slathered on some stinky powder coat acrylic(?)stuff. So I should ask for gel next time? How is that different? And how did you open your Diet Vanilla Coke?

I once saw a woman with inch-long fingernails typing. She typed with the nails, not the fingertips.

It was loud.

Never having my own nails done, 'cept the occasional bite or scrape with a pocket knife, I have observed the growth of Nail Places in every new shopping whatever. They are like, everywhere. How many fingers are OUT there? Oh, and thanks for your comment on the TAPS.

Having Solarnail put on my nails helps keep them looking professional and I don't jack them up so bad when I plow 200-300 shotgun shells into my shotgun weekly.

Brian, just the thought of that makes my skin tingle...I can hear the clicking of my own nails against the keys right now...I need to get them shortened right away.

Wazah, thanks for stopping by. I've enjoyed reading your beautiful posts. And yes, there are a lot of nail places out there! The thing is, once you have them done, then you have to go back every two weeks for a touch-up. It's a real racket. Stick with the pocket knife. ;-)

Janie, what is Solarnail? Sounds like something you'd buy at Home Depot. Heh. Maybe you do? ;-)

Rach, that's my job...to keep the rest of you ladies polished and spit shined. ;-)

I'm kinda wondering why there weren't photos of these alleged nails. Hmmm?

Or are you saving them for your hand modeling portfolio? ;-)

She's awaiting the next honkin' hibiscus, Eric!

Gwynne - Solarnail is the acrylic product...makes them look really natural - kind of has a pink tint or a more natural tint.

Ok, sorry to be so late getting back...

Sounds like you got acrylics. Gel are acrylics, also, but with a topcoat of gel goo that hardens under a lamp and adds strength.

Seeing the pictures in the latest post, those are not short at all. I always kept mine not much past my fingertips. That way I could type with my fingers and not the nails. When the nails started hitting other keys, I knew it was time to get them done again.

And that's how I opened Diet Cokes.

=)
