Happy Birthday To My Beloved!

Today is the day my husband was born, a certain number of years ago. Or more accurately, today is the date that we celebrate him being born. It could be that he was born yesterday (a certain number of years ago), or September 10th. The European dating system being what it is, and our government officials being what they are, seems to have caused a bit of confusion upon my husband's entry into our legal system many moons ago (1970 to be exact). His birth certificate says he was born 9-10-XX, which by European standards would be October 9th and by U.S. standards would be September 10th. But all of his U.S. documents say that he was born October 10th, and so that is the day we celebrate, because if it was September 10th or October 9th, well, then we missed it!

Happy Birthday, Honey Bear!! :-)

At least he gets a birthday in there somewhere! :) Maybe you should have 3 parties, just to make sure he feels loved and appreciated. :)

I have a friend who's husband was born in a small village in Spain and by the time they could make the trip down to get a birthcertificate his "legal" birthdate is about 2 months after he was actually born, cause they wouldn't backdate the certificate.

Heh. It's funny how erroneous old records can be, especially in Europe (although I've seen some pretty funny stuff in U.S. genealogical records as well...we learned at my grandpa's funeral that he had a twin sister, and was raised by his aunt believing that she was his mother and his mother was his aunt and his sister was his cousin ;-).

MBH says birthdays are "just for kids" anyway, so he's not terribly concerned about when we celebrate, as long as he feels the love. ;-)

And the point was...the birth records were all falsified to reflect the lies as reality, even using different birthdates for the twins.

Well, happy birthday to the hubby! I vote for his birthday to be on September 10th, but I'm biased. That's my birthdate. :-)

Wow! What are the odds? Well, truly, that is the most likely date of his birth, so happy belated birthdays to you both!! :-)

Lucky for me, I was born April 13, so I can always tell which number is the month in US documents. :)

Happy birthday, Gwynne's husband!

(How's about celebrating it on Oct 9, Oct 10, and Sept 10? Then you get three times the celebrations and only one time the age increase.)
